This painting by Danish artist, Peter Raadsig (1806-1882) depicts Hans Taussen in prison at the Priory in Viborg.  

Taussen studied with Martin Luther in Germany and on return to Denmark was arrested as the country was primarily Catholic. However he was so popular that he was permitted out of his prison cell to minister in services.

The painting measures 32” x 26” and overall with the frame measures 38” x 32”. This one I had professionally cleaned by Chicago Fine Art. The painting and frame are in very good condition.

It also has really nice detail, especially in the clothing of the standing figure. The painting and frame are in very good condition. It is signed by the artist and dated 1863.
