An oil on canvas painting by French artist, Ludovic Mouchot (1846-1893) depicting “A Game of Dice” in which four cavaliers and a lady gather around a table with red tablecloth playing dice. The man on the right holds a cup of dice in his right hand. The group is situated in an interior on a marble floor with an Aubuchon tapestry in the back, with the lady’s hat hanging on the wall. A gentleman’s hat and sword are on the bench in the front. The painting is signed by the artist and titled on a brass nameplate although the years on the nameplate are different than what is listed online for the artist. The painting is beautiful with bright colors and wonderful detail.

The painting measures 19” x 23 1/2” and overall with the heavy gilt frame measures approximately 29 1/2” x 34”. The painting is housed in an ornate giltwood frame with bead course and acanthus leaf decoration

Overall good condition with some light inpainting to restored areas in lower margin and upper-middle. Largest area approximately 1". Canvas is lined. Frame in overall good condition with light wear and cracking consistent with age, some repainting to frame.
