Pair of Lovely Antique Paintings by Alex de Andreis of Dutch Drinkers

$1,995.00

For consideration is this beautiful pair of antique oil on canvas paintings by Belgian artist, Alex de Andreis (1880-1929) depicting two Dutch or German jolly drinkers. The depiction shows each man smiling, one holding aloft a glass of wine in a toast, the other holding a pewter cup sideways as if to say it is empty adjacent to a Westerwald stoneware jug and German beer stein, as if to say which will he drink next…? The paintings are done in wonderful detail yet have an impressionistic style, clearly conveying the levity of the scenes among Renaissance furniture. Each painting measures approximately 18” x 15” and with frames measures 21 1/4” x 18 1/2”. The frames are likely a bit newer than the paintings, perhaps mid-century.

Th paintings are in very good condition but do have slight impression from the stretchers. There appears to be no paint loss or actual damage to the images.
