A beautifully rendered oil on canvas painting by Belgian artist Alex de Andreis (1880-1929) depicting a standing cavalier on 17th Century gentleman with his sword. unlike many of the artist’s paintings, the subject is dressed in a multi-colored tunic with white collar and blue sash and holds a green cape over his right arm. His left hand holds a sword. He has short breeches and silk stockings with period shoes. The painting is signed in the lower right A De Andreis.

The painting image measures 22” x 15” and the overall size including the frame measures 26 3/8” x 19 5/8”. The painting is in very good overall condition with minor scattered in-painting not affecting the figure. The frame is a contemporary frame reproduction of an antique frame.
