An oil on panel painting by French artist, Eugene Gabriel Louis Isabey (1803-1866), Arrival at the Castle Gate. This oil on panel depicts a castle and gate with a rider entering and others inside being greeted by a gentleman and a few ladies. The scene is perfectly framed with a backdrop of clouds and perfectly blue sky. The brushstrokes and impasto are quite evident and make the painting come alive. The painting is signed “Isabey” and dated ‘54 (1854) in the lower left corner.

The painting and frame are in very good condition. The dimensions of the painting are 10.6” x 15.7” and overall with the gilt frame are 16.9” x 22”. It is ready to hang.
