Ferdinand Roybet, Oil on Panel, Young Man Holding Gilt Silver Pokal

Sale Price:$7,000.00 Original Price:$9,995.00

An oil on panel painting by French artist, Ferdinand Roybet (1840-1920) depicting an interior with a young man in formal 17th Century attire holding a gilt silver pokal or standing cup. The painting has beautiful bright colors with the young man dressed in ornate clothing with pink and green sleeves, orange vest and white lace collar before a mottled green background. On the table before him is another elaborate textile with large brass or gilt silver tray. Through the doorway on the right we can see through a curtain into another room.

The painting is in very good overall condition but has some touch-up around the edges due to frame rubbing. It is presented in a gilt frame, also in very good condition. The image area measures approximately 31” x 24 1/2” and overall with the frame approximately 38” x 31 1/2”. Provenance: William Rodman & Co, Belfast, Ireland; Frederick W. Thom Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
