A wonderfully detail-carved wood Spanish Renaissance Revival armchair with embossed leather back and seat. The crest having carved animal form masks flanking a medallion centered with face above embossed leather backrest and seat, each featuring a helmeted soldier bust. The leather is mounted with starburst nailhead trim. The flat arms finalizing in carved acanthus leaf and mask hand holds with gryphon form column supports resting on paw feet. The stretcher features a carved lion’s face in the center medallion. This chair is very well carved and sturdy enough for regular use.

The dimensions are 51.5” high, 27” wide, and 23” deep. The chair is in good overall condition with some fading and wear to the leather, typical scuffs and scratches as would be expected with age and use. Each gryphon leg support missing one wing, but barely noticeable. This chair has been in my home for over four years, and this was just noticed for the first time while taking the photos.
