A large and beautiful oil on canvas painting depicting a mounted knight in armor atop his steed and holding a lance peering up at an arched window from which a pair of damsels look at him longingly. The painting is a very unique style, in the romantic, pre-Raphasellite look and includes liberal use of gold leaf in the elaborate designs on the canvas. The painting is by Peruvian artist Diana Mendoza.

Born in Junin, Peru, artist Diana Mendoza is known for blending European and Peruvian cultures into a unique style of painting. Her oil on canvas paintings also utilize gold and silver leafing. Diana enjoyed art from a young age and sketched throughout her early years. Although she initially chose engineering, Diana finished in the school of fine arts. After graduating from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes with one of the highest awards for painting and drawing, Diana became a teacher and designer. The painting site area measures 23.5” x 35.5” and is housed in a large gold and bole frame with linen liner measuring 37.5” x 49.5”. It is in very good condition with no apparent loss or damage. There is a stamp on the back of the canvas indicating the origin of the painting in Peru.

This painting is not antique, but carries the theme of knights and chivalry. It was most likely painted in the 1970’s or 1980’s by the artist. This item includes FREE Shipping in the Continental U.S.
