Oil on canvas painting depicting a cavalier with prominent mustache in wide-brimmed hat and red coat with lace collar and green shirt wearing a suede glove by Italian artist Alexis D’Ambrossi (late 19th/early 20th Century). The painting is well-executed tronie or character study of a 17th Century cavalier. The painting is bright and colorful with tremendous detail in the face and the lace collar. The painting measures 32” x 25” and is presented in a large French Louis XV style gilt swept and pierced frame. The overall size including the frame is approximately 42” x 35 1/4” x 4.25”.

The painting has been lined to a newer canvas and the frame has had some professional repairs but is in overall very good condition, having been restored by Chicago Fine Art.
