A nice impressionistic depiction of a smiling cavalier in red with a lace collar and plumed hat. His mustache and goatee frame his face nicely as he smiles at us in a cheerful manner. The painting is signed in the upper right corner “Patzi” and dates from the late 19th or early 20th Century. The pierced gilt frame is very nice and of similar age as the painting.

The painting image measures 23 3/4” x 18” and the overall size including the frame is 31” x 25”. There are several old repairs that can be seen from the back of the painting on the canvas. There are also faint stretcher bar lines on the canvas, and it could benefit from both cleaning and re-stretching, but does look nice in its current condition as well.
