An oil on canvas painting by Adolphe Alexandre Lesrel, signed and dated 1880 “The Chess Game” features an 18th Century interior scene with a wigged gentleman and woman playing a game of chess, while another woman stands over her watching the strategy. A pair of 17th Century marriage portraits appear on the wall behind the couple. The colors are bright and the fabric’s textures and sheen are quite lovely.

The painting measures 19 1/2” x 22 1/2” and overall with the gilt frame measures 28 1/2” x 30 1/2”. Both painting and frame are in very good condition, ready to hang.
